Urge the Governor to Veto SB 410’s Attack on Home Rule

From our partners at SCCF (Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation)

Please call and email Governor DeSantis, asking him to VETO Senate Bill 410.

Bills have started to be presented to the Governor for signature so now is our last chance to encourage him to veto bad bills that passed during the 2020 legislative session.

Senate Bill 410 is a preemption bill that blocks local governments from making land use policy decisions for their communities. This blanket preemtion affords no consideration of a county’s infrastructure, restraints or capacity. This bill also mandates redundant land owner defenses that are already provided for in current state and federal law. Singularly, this bill is damaging enough but together with the multiple growth management eroding bills adopted the past few years, the state has gutted growth management in Florida by ignoring links between properly managed growth, water supply and water quality. Please call Governor DeSantis at (850) 717-9337 and click the TAKE ACTION button below to urge him to VETO SB 410 to protect local control and to support a healthy environment and a strong economy.
