Once again — and this time in a multimillion dollar arena — the Florida Legislature usurped governing bodies responsible for promoting and requesting action, and foisted a massive toll road initiative upon citizens.
Their proposed toll roads — never requested and actually objected to by affected counties — will dig through our most environmentally sensitive and vulnerable areas, destroying thousands more wetlands and continuing the assault on wildlife habitat, while diverting large amounts of road resources from far more urgent needs. The initiative was sponsored and promoted by road builders and developers.
